A visual tribute to the harvest
The grape harvest is one of the most intense and identity-defining moments in Priorat. Next to the Serra de Montsant, where the landscape is as demanding as it is inspiring, the grape harvest is the culmination of a whole year of work in the fields: a ritual full of effort, tradition and community. Every September, the vineyards become a moving landscape, where expert hands cut, select and transport the fruit that will define the wine of the year.
The exhibition VEREMA A PEUS DE MONTSANT – COLLITA 2025 captures this essence through sixteen photographs captured during a photographic day held on September 27, 2024. That day, in the midst of the grape harvest, eight photographers — Jordi Brú, Mercè Pons, Toni Lluch, Jordi Joan Rojals, Joan Ramon Coll, Jordi Franquès, Maria Pi and Xavi Flores — closely followed the entire process, from the vineyard to the cellar. From all the images they obtained, a careful selection has been made that offers a graphic taste of the 2025 grape harvest.
The strength of the landscape
The vineyards at the foot of Montsant are synonymous with steep slopes, narrow terraces and a viticulture that is still largely manual. The territory marks the character of the harvest and, in these photographs, we see this deep bond: hands moving among the vines, dirt roads and light filtered through the vines. It is a landscape that demands effort, but at the same time offers incomparable beauty.
A ritual of gestures and precision
The harvest is a choreography that combines speed, skill and attention. Cutting the grapes, loading the boxes or trailers, lowering them down dry stone banks and transporting the fruit to the winery is a demanding task, which the photographers have been able to capture with authenticity. In the images we find concentrated faces, spontaneous smiles, hands stained with must and constant movements: a collective work that speaks of coexistence and craft.
The transformation in the cellar
Once the grapes arrive at the winery, a second, equally intense phase begins: selection, destemming and the first winemaking processes. The photographs show this change of scenery, where the rusticity of the countryside gives way to the precision of the winery, but where the essence remains the same: human dedication.
A tribute to the hands that make wine
This exhibition aims to be, above all, a tribute. A recognition of all the people who, with effort and passion, keep the wine-growing landscape of Priorat alive. Behind every bottle of wine there is a story, and these sixteen images are a sincere and emotional visual taste of it.
